COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID-19 UPDATE

Condition of entry

It is now a condition of entry that to enter our store you must wear a face mask. This means you must be wearing either a face mask, face shield or any other forms of face covering may be worn such as a scarf or bandana. It is of the upmost importance for us as a business to undertake adequate preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of team members but also our customers.

If you are not wearing a face mask – you will be asked to leave the store and we will not be serving you at the register.

If you are unable to wear a face mask due to a medical condition – we kindly ask you do not visit our store and opt to use the home delivery service rather than coming in to do your shopping. We are offering this service FREE OF CHARGE to ensure that you are not disadvantaged in any way.

In order to obtain the free home delivery service you must provide us with copy of the medical certificate stating that you are unable to wear a mask prior to applying for the home delivery service. For more information regarding the home delivery service please contact the store directly.

These are certainly crazy times, so we wanted to provide you with an update on our policies and procedures and some of the changes in store as we all cope with the Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

Store Practices

To help protect our team and customers against COVID-19 we have implemented the following:

With regard to sanitisation and hygiene practices: We are going above and beyond our usual exemplary standard of hygiene, sanitisation and care in food preparation. We wanted to reassure you that we are receiving constant communication from federal, state and local health officials and the World Health Organisation.

We are:

  • Intensifying our cleaning practices – We are dedicating more time to sanitisation procedures, particularly focussing on the most common touch points in store
  • Installed perspex screens at checkouts
  • Floors are market in the areas required to highlight 1.5m distances
  • Ensuring all our team are following the recommended safe hygiene practices
  • Where possible we are minimising contact with both in-store transaction and while receiving and making deliveries
  • Working closely with our supplier partners to ensure they are also meeting the required guidelines

For your information, none of our staff have recently traveled or believe they have had contact with anyone infected.

Change of mind “return policy” suspended

Given the magnitude of purchasing we are temporarily suspending our “change of mind” return policy.

Product Availability & Purchasing Limits

As you will have no doubt experienced, there will be be some product unavailability in the short term as suppliers ramp up their operations to meet demand. So please understand that we are doing the best we can to fill our shelves, however some supply issues are obviously out of our control. For this reason we have implemented purchase limits on some product lines to ensure there is enough for everyone, particularly the elderly and more vulnerable amongst our community. These products and limits will be communicated in-store and will be updated regularly depending on product availability and  when supply is expected.

Fresh Produce Prices

There has been an unprecedented demand across the fresh produce sector. As a result produce availability and prices are being affected on a daily basis. We will always do our best to provide you with quality produce that represents great value for money. However please be aware that wholesale pricing is dictated on a supply and demand basis and for this reason pricing is out of our control.

Catalogue/Advertised Specials

Product specials in the IGA Catalogue are put in place some weeks prior to the onsale date due to the printing and distribution processes. Where possible our suppliers are endeavouring to provide those products advertised, however due to this unprecedented circumstance this is not always possible.

Home Delivery

To assist the elderly, disabled and those who are unable to get to the store in person due to isolation, we have introduced an online order form for Home Delivery. This is a simple order form on our website that is securely emailed to the store. Payment is taken over the phone and we can then leave your order at your door. Please visit our Home Delivery Page for more details and to place an order.

Social Distancing

The store is OPEN 7 Days and we will always welcome you at the store. We simply ask that you please be mindful and respect the social distancing requirements in place at this time.

Keeping It Normal

Apart from the obvious, we are trying to keep things as normal as possible, we are constantly reviewing the situation and will keep you informed as things evolve. Outside of these operational changes, it’s business as usual!

A Huge Thanks To Our Community

We are so lucky to have our store located in this wonderful community. We understand that everyone is stressed at this difficult time however we have also experienced and witnessed an incredible amount of goodwill and kind gestures from our customers to both our staff and each other. We are a strong community and together we will get through this.
